There's something extraordinary about returning to your hometown; for me, that means a weekend in the vibrant and bustling city of New York. It seems rare to meet people who grew up in the city, and I could go on and on about the amazing parts of growing up here. From iconic neighborhoods like TriBeCa, where I grew up, to the abundance of beautiful parks, there's always something new to discover in the city that never sleeps.
One of the highlights of my weekend was re-exploring TriBeCa, a neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, trendy boutiques, and incredible dining scene, not to mention the insane number of celebrities that live there. I spent hours wandering through the charming streets, popping into unique shops, and enjoying some of the city's best coffee, which comes from the deli or the carts on the end of the block. TriBeCa's mix of old-world charm and modern innovation never fails to captivate me, and I always find something new and exciting around every corner.
The West Side Highway houses some of the city's most iconic piers. These historic structures stretch along the Hudson River, offering stunning water views and the New Jersey shoreline. The piers are not only scenic spots but also serve as hubs for recreation, events, and cultural experiences.
Pier 25, located in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, is an integral part of the Hudson River Park and offers diverse activities and attractions for visitors of all ages. New York City is renowned for its fantastic pizza, and among the myriad options, Saluggi's Pizza stands out as the best. Their pizza is a testament to the city's pizza-making prowess, with a perfect balance of thin, crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and high-quality toppings. They have many options, from the classics to even vegan mozzarella, which is terrific for those with a dairy allergy. The attention to detail and the dedication to creating the perfect slice are evident in every bite. Saluggi's commitment to excellence has rightfully earned it a place as a top destination for pizza enthusiasts in New York City. Whether you're a local or a visitor, a trip to Saluggi's is a must for anyone seeking the pinnacle of New York pizza perfection.
But New York City isn't just about the bustling streets and towering skyscrapers. It's also a city filled with beautiful green spaces and parks, each offering a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle. During my weekend visit, I made sure to explore some of the fantastic parks that the city has to offer. We took a delightful stroll around Central Park and Columbus Circle. Central Park's lush greenery and serene atmosphere created a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Re-visiting the beautiful lakes, charming bridges, and sprawling lawns filled with people enjoying picnics and outdoor activities. My husband and I lounged in Sheep Meadow, relaxing and enjoying the breeze.
Afterward, I made my way to Columbus Circle, where the city's bustling energy merged seamlessly with the park's tranquility. The vibrant street performers and lively atmosphere added to the area's excitement. I also marveled at the impressive architecture and iconic statue at the center of the circle.
The combination of natural beauty and urban vibrancy made for a memorable and enjoyable day.
New York City will always hold a special place in my heart, and my weekend visit was a wonderful reminder of why I love this vibrant and diverse city. From the charming streets of TriBeCa to the tranquil beauty of the city's parks, each moment spent in my hometown is a treasure to be cherished.
