Yurt Life!

Updated: May 26, 2023

Western Maine Yurts is hands down one of the most incredible stays we have been to. This yurt community I found on Airbnb was so close to Sunday River Ski Resort; that we just had to check them out.

Yurt Life

We have now been here twice, and we stayed in The Swift Yurt, which is the closest to the communal bathroom. The yurt has an intricately designed bunk bed with queen-sized mattresses for both sleeping areas. This means you can comfortably fit four adults in here and make it cost-effective for your travels. Each yurt has a mini kitchen equipped with a sink, a jug to fill your water, a two-burner stove with propane, and utensils like plates, bowls, cups, and an eatery. There is a bar top with stools to eat your meals at. There is a lot of beautiful wood accents in the yurt. Next to your kitchen, you get a cute living room area with a couch and chairs with a beautifully decorated coffee table. The yurt is heated with a wood stove; that comes with wood and directions for those who have never used one before.

Some of the best features of this yurt are the windows it has. There is a clear dome at the top that opens, allowing for fresh air and for you to see the stars at night. The yurts are also totally run off of solar energy, and you get the battery inside to turn on lights and charge your devices via USB ports. The yurt we stayed in was also wheelchair accessible, making it useable for everyone.

The bathhouse is outstanding. I was a little nervous at first because this is glamping, but you never know with bathrooms. It was pristine both times we came here. They have massive sinks with soap to wash your dishes. The whole bathhouse has radiant floor heating. The showers were beautiful, with rustic meal walls that looked like waves. For a bathroom, this place blew away expectations.

There are eight yurts in this community on three separate roads. Each road has its features that you can find out more about by visiting their website or reaching out.
